Earlier this year Scandinavian Airlines released its Crew Guide application, a destination guide to New York. It became a major success, with Apple naming it App of the Week. Apple has now judged SAS Crew Guide to be one of the best apps in the `Travel' category for the whole of 2011. SAS has also updated its Crew Guide, adding two new destinations, Chicago and London. It can be downloaded for iPhone and will soon be available for Android as well.
The app is based on the popular SAS Crew Guide concept, in which Scandinavian Airlines flight staff share their unique tips on destinations around the world. It is free for iPhone users to download and will soon be available for Android users. Just like the Crew Guide books, the app contains unique tips on activities, restaurants and shops, giving greater insight than you would find in standard guide books.
"SAS Crew Guide is a unique concept that has been available as a book for several years, but the Crew Guide app has shown us the incredible amount of interest there is in having these tips more accessible through Smart Phones. Our customers like the concept and more than 50,000 have already downloaded the guide for New York, so it's particularly pleasing that Apple has named it one of the best travel apps in 2011," says Rūta Jucienė, SAS Representative Manager Lithuania.
The SAS Crew Guide app is free to download from iTunes, (http://itunes.apple.com/se/app/sas-crew-guide/id427072710?mt=8), Android Market (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sascrewguide) and the SAS Crew Guide page.
